We’ve all heard the statistics: thousands of marriages and relationships culminated through Match.com. Dan and Melanie are not just another statistic; the couple shares their inspiring story of what happens after your profiles match.
You’ve got mail…
Melanie sat at her computer one day and noticed she a notification on Match.com, a man named Dan wanted to meet her. In fact, he even listed bullet points explaining why they might be a good fit. Melanie agreed, not realizing then that in a little over four years, the man behind the computer screen would become her husband.
After years of trying new restaurants, pushing each other in the gym and falling more in love each day, Dan popped the question before Melanie was set to get on a plane. He took his then girlfriend to scope out rings before her trip. Seeing the two together, the salesperson suggested to Dan to ask for Melanie’s hand right then and there. Without hesitation, Dan agreed! He couldn’t wait any longer to marry the love of his life.
The two exchanged I Dos on October 29, 2011, and have continued to fall harder for each other ever since. They are both firm believers in never giving up on love, no matter what obstacles life catapults your way.
“Just because you reach a certain age does not mean you will never find love or never love again. There are two things you need have when it comes to love, an open mind and an open heart,” gushes Melanie about her groom.
A perfect match…
Dan shares many of Melanie’s obsessions, such as the Chicago Bears, deep dish pizza and movie marathons, but most importantly, her fellow Chicago native also shares her unwavering need for a good heart. As a breast cancer survivor, Melanie has seen her eras of hardship, but always had a hand to hold. Throughout the battle, Dan was steadfastly supportive, loving, and never stopped calling her beautiful.
Melanie says, “We asked our guests to donate to the cancer treatment center instead of giving us gifts. The advantage of getting married as an “older couple” is we already had so much but our guests still wanted to give. We thought giving other women a chance to find love after fighting breast cancer would be the best gift ever.”
